Throwing Money at Problems: More Thoughts on Bailouts

Throwing Money at Problems: More Thoughts on Bailouts - O'Reilly Broadcast: "One of the things I've found over the years is that when a software project is in trouble (usually for reasons of bad code, bad design, bad architecture or shifting requirements) one of the most common tendencies in business is to throw money at it. 'If we increase the budget, then maybe this will solve the problems.' This is a very businessman like way of dealing with serious, endemic issues, one that can be translated into 'If I increase the budget for it, then I am essentially placing the responsibility for solving this on the people I hired to do it the first time, rather than that responsibility be on me.'"
