My first 'real' version was Red Hat Linux 5.1 around 1998, after which I progressed to Caldera Open Linux 2.3 in 2000, then Knoppix STD in 2002, followed by a few experiments with versions of Damn Small Linux around 2004-2006. All of these different flavors were tried out on various machines from an old Cyrix to a Pentium III processor with assorted graphics cards, memory configurations, etc. And almost all of them were flawed in some way."
